Are your ballet classes RAD registered?

Yes. MOUVE is a Royal Academy of Dance registered school. Our ballet pathway follows the RAD graded syllabus from Pre-Primary through to Grade 8, including pointe work for advanced students. All our ballet teachers are ISTD and RAD trained.

What ages are your ballet classes for?

We teach ballet from age 3 through to adults. Pre-Primary ballet starts at age 3, Primary at age 5, and graded classes continue through childhood and teens. We also welcome adult beginners.

Can my child sit RAD ballet exams at MOUVE?

Yes. Students who are ready can sit RAD graded examinations. Our teachers prepare children throughout the year, and exam sessions are held at the studio. Results are certificated by the Royal Academy of Dance.

Does my child need ballet experience to join?

No. We welcome complete beginners at every age. Pre-Primary and Primary classes are designed as an introduction to ballet. Older beginners are placed in the right class for their level — just book a free trial and we’ll find the best fit.

Do you teach pointe work?

Yes. Pointe classes are available for students who have reached an appropriate level of strength and technique, typically from Grade 4 onwards. Our teachers assess readiness individually — safety comes first.

All ballet classes are at our Hendon NW4 studio — St Mary’s & St John’s CE School, Sunningfields Road, Hendon NW4 4QR. We’re easy to reach from Finchley, Mill Hill, Golders Green, Barnet, Edgware and across North London.

What should my child wear to ballet class?

Girls wear a leotard, ballet tights, and ballet shoes (leather or canvas). Boys wear a fitted T-shirt, leggings or shorts, and ballet shoes. Hair should be tied back neatly. We sell ballet shoes and uniform items at the studio.

Do ballet students perform in the annual showcase?

Yes. Every ballet class performs at our annual showcase at the Arts Depot theatre in Finchley — a professional 800-seat venue. It’s the highlight of the year for our dancers and their families.
