What can I expect from a MOUVE Lyrical Jazz class?
Lyrical Dance is a dance style that fuses together the best of ballet, jazz, acrobatics and modern dance. Classes begins with a cardio-based warm-up and then stretching and limbering, working on flexibility and strengthening techniques. The class moves onto corner and centre work focussing on style, performance and emotion. Students then work on combining these skills to piece together show-stopping dance routines, incorporating the impressive steps and combinations they have learnt.
What should I wear?
All lyrical jazz students must wear:
- Any MOUVE leotard (black short sleeved or our pink & black high neck long sleeved)
- Black leggings
- Black jazz shoes
- A MOUVE or any DWL T-shirt
- Pupils may wear a loose-fitting skirt over their leggings if they feel more comfortable
Any other information I ought to know?
Lyrical Dance is usually done in bare feet, but due to current DofSE guidelines, ALL pupils MUST wear footwear. We recommend split-sole jazz shoes or pink ballet shoes.
